The Linn Akurates are everything their name implies and
much more.
Utilizing Linn’s new patented “3K Driver Array”, a single
coherent point source is achieved for the critical mid and high
frequencies. A special new super-tweeter delivers unbelievable air and
delicacy in the uppermost treble range. Bass is handled by two new
sandwich cone 6.5” woofers in a tuned bass-reflex system.
We’ve been running the Akurate 242s in a variety of
systems lately and they have sounded superb in every case. Their sonic
character falls somewhere in between the high-end Vandersteens and the
bigger ProAcs. They have beautifully extended high frequencies that
never jump out or bite, but provide a sense of maximum air and openness
on the top end. The midrange is ever so slightly on the lush side of
neutral, just enough to make you melt in your chair. The bass is
powerful and extended, and complements the rest of the speaker
perfectly.
The narrow and elegant cabinets are available in
maple, cherry, black, ash and rosenut. These are gorgeous speakers with
striking beauty that will compliment virtually any décor. In short they
